NEVERMORE SCARES FALCONS….GOLGIS NOHR SETS ANOTHER WCBL RECORD….REBELS RESIST ASSAULT
Submitted by lee0052 on December 24th, 2009
As Santa forced the WCBL to relocate to Sands Secondary for the final game of 2009, it appeared that the change of venue was something that Nevermore was more than willing to accept as they pushed the Falcons to the limit. Despite the 82-71 loss, the game was much closer than the score indicated as it wasn’t until end of the final twenty minutes that the Falcons, led by Shami Gill’s second straight forty plus game, 7-2 run pushed them into the double digit comfort zone. With a little extra pep in their step, both Gill and Nevermore swingman Jim ...
GOLGIS AND NEVERMORE STUGGLE ON “D”….REBELS TAME WILDCATS….FALCONS WITHSTAND ASSAULT
Submitted by lee0052 on December 17th, 2009
In a score that was reminiscent of the early 80′s Denver Nuggets, the Nielsen Golgis and Nevermore seemed to ignore the defensive aspect of the game as they combined for 252 points in a 142-110 Golgis victory. Led by Randy Nohr’s game high 34 points and 13 assists, along with 30 points from forward Jim Martin, the Golgis turned an eighteen point lead off the opening tip into a twenty point halftime lead, and escalated from there to as much as thirty six points. While normally a hundred point effort has led to a victory, Nevermore could not match the ...
TAKING MY BALL AND GOING HOME (AGAIN)
Submitted by lee0052 on December 11th, 2009
Monday, December 7th featured the return of the original AI to the “City of Brotherly Love”. After three seasons bouncing from Denver to Detroit to a cup of coffee and a chance to get up close and personal with Hasheem Thabeet in Memphis, Iverson once again donned the number 3 Sixers jersey that made him famous (though I personally enjoyed him more without the ‘rows and in a Hoya uni). Am I one of the few that lumped AI together with Mr. Sprewell and Starbury (at the very least, Steph was willing to play anywhere, he was just ...
NEVERMORE HITS .500 MARK….BALANCED REBELS ATTACK HOLDS OFF FALCONS….
Submitted by lee0052 on December 9th, 2009
Led by Jim Taylor’s team high 20 points, Nevermore has now put together their second two game winning streak of the season and evened their record at .500 with an 85-80 victory over the Wildcats. Not quite halfway through the season, Nevermore has already posted a better record than in recent years and with the victory, find themselves in uncharted waters as they hold down the third seed in the WCBL rankings. Trailing for the duration of the first half, Nevermore clawed back into the game by making the most of their second chance opportunities and limiting ...
GOLGIS THISCLOSE TO FIRST LOSS….FALCONS TRY TO GET BACK IN THE GROOVE….ASSAULT NO SHOW AFTER VICTORY
Submitted by lee0052 on December 2nd, 2009
Sometimes it isn’t so much you beating your opponent that gets the victory, as it is your opponent beating themselves. Either way you looked at it Sunday afternoon, the Nielsen Golgis continue to sit at the head table of the WCBL standings with a 105-101 victory over the Runnin’ Rebels. Giving up multiple points via a smorgasbord of missed layups, technical fouls, errant defensive assignments and turnovers, the Rebels found themselves constantly chasing the Golgis throughout the entire game. Possessing a seven point advantage after the first twenty minutes of action, the Golgis were unable to put the final ...
NCAA TOP 25 BREAKDOWN
Submitted by lee0052 on November 29th, 2009
With the NBA season off and running like the fine tuned machine that Mr. Stern likes it to be, my attention has turned to the non-pay to play (depending on what school you go to and your level of talent in the topsy-turvy world of NCAA allegations) scene. While I won’t dissect every squad in the top 25, I will touch on my favs and rant on my not so fav (Duke Bluedevils), and throw in my thoughts on the Maple Leaf raised players running the game down south. Anyone else notice that there is only one Pac 10 team ...
LEVON KENDALL INTERVIEW
Submitted by lee0052 on November 26th, 2009
Shortly after helping Team Canada take a huge step towards once again being a presence on the hoops map by qualifying for the 2010 FIBA Worlds, I had the opportunity to interview one of the main contributors for the “Red and White”. After watching Levon Kendall capture back to back BC High School rings in 01-02, his road led him down south to the University of Pittsburgh. Following a redshirt year, Kendall saw limited minutes during his first year in uniform. For the following three seasons his value to the Panthers increased, along with his role as ...
ASSAULT ENTERS THE WIN COLUMN…REBELS DROP NEVERMORE…GOLGIS REMAIN UNBLEMISHED
Submitted by lee0052 on November 26th, 2009
Like David Silver waiting for Donna Martin circa 1990something, good things come to those who wait, and for Assault, the wait ended on Sunday with a convincing 91-77 victory over the Wildcats. After struggling through the first five games of the season, the Assault lineup started to get things figured out with a close game last week against the Runnin’ Rebels to kickstart their first positive result this week. Paced by Jag Aujla’s 32 points and 10 rebound effort, his fourth double double of the season, Assault jumped out to an early 22-11 lead, before suffering their only setback of ...

THE 2009-2010 WCBL SCHEDULE
November 15 / 2009
Last season the Wildcats finished the season just one game below .500 and appeared to be on the verge of being one of the young up and coming squads in the WCBL. However less than a year later a lot has changed. With leading scorer Jeff Chu playing only two of five games and the loss of big man Alex Smith who did not return this season, the Wildcats have struggled to find stable leadership and a go to source for points in the ...

Welcome to the LOCKER ROOM…….This is a place in which visitors can freely express their thoughts on anything and everything related to the game on the hardcourt or the concrete, NBA, FIBA, NCAA, CIS, CCAA, BC HIGH SCHOOL or anything in between. Remember to keep it clean!

For some reason I have never really enjoyed watching teams from the Eastern Conference. I don’t know if is because the Lakers rivals while I grew up where the Pistons and Celtics, or if it was mostly because the teams played a slow down style of ball that was just not appealing. ...
