Centrecourt is proud to announce in partnership with the South Surrey Recreation Centre its newest program, PASS THE ROCK!

Taking place on the outdoor court at the SSRC, the PASS THE ROCK league is a full court 3-on-3 tournament catered to helping today’s youth get in touch with grassroots basketball.  As a young player growing up, often inspiration and influence is sought among players peers, as well as from players who are slightly older.  Part of the outdoor game is having the opportunity and creativity of expanding your game outside of your comfort zone, while enhancing your strengths and working on improving your areas of weakness.

Too often when playing in a traditional 5-on-5 game at a young age, players often get lost on the court or left out of the game action.  Players tend to become lazy if they are not included in the offence, which in turn has a negative effect on the defensive end and more importantly a negative effect on the player’s moral and interest in the game.

With the 3-on-3 format, the PASS THE ROCK tournament will allow players more opportunity to become part of the offence, with increased chances to improve their ball handling, passing, movement without the ball and shooting skills.  On the defensive end, players will have the responsibility of focusing on the importance of individual and team defense.

PASS THE ROCK is offering two different divisions of play this summer.  Although right now we are not offering a girls division, we do welcome any female players who are interested in participating:

JUNIOR DIVISION (BLUE CHIPS):  Players entering grade 9/10

SENIOR DIVISION (ABOVE THE RIM):  Players entering grade 11/12

TOURNAMENT DETAILS:

Players and teams may register at the South Surrey Recreation Centre

Date:  August 30, 2012

Roster:  Minimum of 4 players per team, Maximum of 5

Game Duration: 2 x 8 minute running time halves

1 minute halftime

Each game will feature an official referee and scorekeeper

Each participant will receive an official tournament t-shirt

League winners will receive a championship prize
